Setting

The View From Saturday had different setting because it had a lot of stories. The setting of the first story is in Miami, Florida because Noah moved there because she wanted to do a little research with turtles. But then Noah moved back to New York because that's where his school was so then he moved back. The setting for the second story is in New York because that's where Nadia moved. A farm in Epiphany which was where Ethan Potter lived. Lastly, the very last setting was New York again which was where Julian Singh live and these where all the settings in the book, but the main setting is New York because that was where they went to school.

E. L. Konigsburg

Born Elaine Lobl in New York, Konigsburg grew up in small towns in Pennsylvania, the second of three daughters. As a child, Konigsburg was an avid reader even though reading was not strongly encouraged by her family. As valedictorian, she graduated high school in Farrell, Pennsylvania, and worked briefly as a bookkeeper in a wholesale meat plant to earn money for college. There she met the brother of one of the owners who would later become her husband, David Konigsburg. Konigsburg enrolled in Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh, and earned a degree in chemistry, becoming the first person in her family to graduate from college.

After graduating, she married David Konigsburg, a graduate student in psychology. She entered graduate school in chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh, but after her husband attained his doctorate, they moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where Konigsburg worked as a science teacher at a school for girls. There she began to think about a new direction for her talents and also became the mother of three children, Paul, Laurie, and Ross. This new direction would begin after the family moved to Port Chester, New York, and she started art lessons and then began writing. Her first novel Jennifer, Hecate, Macbeth, William McKinley, and Me, Elizabeth was inspired by her daughter's experiences moving to a new home.

Along with being a very accomplished chapter book writer, Konigsburg is also the author and illustrator of picture books. Her three published pictures books are Samuel Todd's Book of Great Colors,Samuel Todd's Book of Great Inventions, and Amy Elizabeth Explores Bloomingdale's. She was very into writing and publishing books.

The VIew From Saturday

In the beginning of the book starts of when Mrs. Olinski gets in a car crash so then she gets paralyzed and her students are worried. Mrs. Olinski goes back and teaches her students in Epiphany Middle School, so then she realizes that the Academic Bowl is coming up so she chooses four 6th graders which are Noah Gershom, Nadia Diamondstein, Ethan Potter, and Julian Singh to participate in the bowl and those four 6th graders call themselves "The Souls". When they now enter at the end they beat the 7th and 8th graders and eventually become the state champions. Then each chapter of the book is a story of the members of "The Souls". So the first person to tell a story is Noah Gershom. Noah is a twelve years old who goes to Epiphany Middle School; he has brown hair and wears glasses. Noah is the first person who gets chosen because he is smart, observant, always has a good answer for everything, is good with words, and is a good leader, not afraid to take charge.

In the second chapter is the first story of the first member of "The Souls". So the story of Noah is different thing that he had to do. He tells about the time he was the best man at his grandfather's friend's wedding and his experience in writing calligraphy. Another thing was that he had to write this report about something he had chosen and he had chosen to do it about turtles.

Then in the next chapter is about Nadia Diamondstein. Nadia is a plump girl with curly red hair and freckles. She moved to New York from Florida. Her story is about when she talks about what had happened to her grandfather Izzy Diamondstein. So what her grandfather tells her that he first married someone else but then she died and he married Ethan's grandmother.

The chapter after that is about Ethan Potter. Ethan is a tall boy with blonde hair and a love for theater. He lives on a farm, and his family is one of the oldest in Epiphany. So his story starts of when he goes to school. Then he talks about how this little kid always follows him. One day he tries to get away from him because he doesn't want to sit next to him in the school bus.

So then the very last chapter and the very last person to get chosen is Julian Singh. Julian is a rather eccentric Indian boy with black hair. He has a British accent because he went to boarding school in England. So then the very last story is when he talks a lot about his mother then how he goes to a tea party that someone invited "The Souls" two people already know the people in the tea party but the other two don't know them. So then Noah introduces them in the party.

Just if you didn’t know Mrs. Olinski is a sixth-grade teacher at Epiphany Middle School and runs the Academic Bowl team, the Souls. The Souls respect Mrs. Olinski and restore her confidence in her ability as a teacher, which had been shaken after a car accident which rendered her paraplegic. At first, she is not sure how she picked her team, but knows later on, thanks to Mr. Singh who gives her a good logical reason.
